Hypnotherapy

Hypnosis is a deeply relaxed state of the conscious mind where you get intimately connected and aware of your subconscious mind. It is a natural state of awareness in which you become inwardly focused and open to subconscious memories and transpersonal experiences. As such, hypnosis is an ideal state to access the subconscious mind to understand any patterns of behavior, long term negative emotions and limiting beliefs and the linkages of these with past events and experiences.

Hypnotherapy is a process that is used to reprogram the subconscious mind to absorb, imbibe and implement positive suggestions for a range of issues. Such reprogramming can result in positive changes for clients to live happily. Hypnosis is therefore a key medium deployed by therapists for past life regression therapy.

How is Hypnotherapy done?
Hypnotherapy is carried out in a safe clinical environment. The session is kept confidential and whatever is said during the session is kept between the therapist and the client. The therapist will first induce you to a very relaxed state of mind in which you are more receptive to positive suggestions. The hypnotherapist will then use the appropriate strategies to assist you to resolve your issues. Hypnosis is a consensual state, both your permission and cooperation will be needed for it to work. Like a doctor, therapists qualified in hypnosis work to a code of ethics that puts the client’s interest first and nothing is done unless it has been discussed and agreed in advance with the client.

Can anyone be hypnotised?
People go quite naturally into trance everyday and therapists job is to simply guide them to a deeper level of relaxation. Anyone can go into a hypnotic state easily. Many of us experience trance states in everyday life which are similar to hypnosis. For example, when one is immersed in reading a book or watching television one can become oblivious to what’s happening in their physical proximity or being unresponsive to one’s
names being called out.

Is Hypnosis dangerous? Will I get stuck in it?
Some people are afraid that once hypnotized, they will never come out of it. Hypnotic state is non different than focused concentration. It is quite easy and natural for us to drift back to our normal state. There has never been a documented case of any harm to a person when he/she comes out of a hypnotic state as a result of therapeutic use of hypnotism.

Will I lose control of my mind?
Hypnosis works only with the willingness of the subject. Contrary to a commonly held perception, any person in a hypnotic state remains in full control of his/her actions. You never lose control or sense of awareness at any point of time. During hypnosis, your brain waves slow down to a theta state where you have heightened concentration that increases your receptivity to positive suggestions.
